A few weeks back, my friend Ken approached me wondering if I’d be up for climbing a hill he’d found in Wales. We met up for coffee to discuss the idea, which is when he first showed me the pictures online of Crib Goch’s ridge.
I was in awe! The ridge looked like something from the mountaineering trip of my dreams, and in snow it looked even more spectacular! We set about booking a hire car, accommodation, gearing up, and finally after a few weeks, we set off.
Watching this film back after a few weeks, I’ve really begun to understand just how lucky we were that nothing went wrong on this trip. Although we felt like we were equipped and ready, I feel like both of us made mistakes with our choices of gear and we were both distinctly under-experienced for these conditions. It was an unbelievable rush while we were on the trip and I really want to do more winter mountaineering, just next time I realise I’m going to have to prepare a lot more. Despite all this, all in all it was an incredible trip!
