Last week looked like a busy one. Working in the climbing centre on Monday and Tuesday, doing an award show on Wednesday and Thursday, back to the centre on Friday morning, and onto a shoot in the afternoon. Busy busy! Thankfully the show on Thursday was canceled, giving me a day away from work and nothing planned.

I’d seen on Facebook and Instagram that the BMC were looking for volunteers to hike Ben Vane in the snow as a focal point for a drone film. And they were looking to shoot on Thursday! A perfect combination of outdoors and filming, how could I resist.

The view back to Ben Lomond

On Thursday morning I headed up the side of Loch Lomond to the Car park to meet the rest of the team. I happened to know one of the other guys but everyone there was super friendly. The drone operator arrived with his HUGE pack, carrying plenty of gear and spare batteries, and we set off.

Tackling the snow and ice

Stopping and starting all the way up for drone shots was a real test to my thermals, but managed to stay warm the whole day. The summit was in beautiful conditions, with snow and ice everywhere! My crampons and Ice axe appreciated the day out.

Robert having his hero moment

The low winter sun had the most beautiful light so taking decent looking photos was easy work, and as we were stop starting anyway, the guys didn’t mind too much when I got them to pose for photos.

The Summit was a happy place to be

All in all, a fantastic day out! Made all the better with the company and the two dogs that came along for the ride.

What a beautiful doggo
